Description:

Provide assistance in the coordination and collection of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for Heritage customers in the Central Florida area.  This position oversees various tasks, including the segregation, pickup, transport, and documentation of regulated waste activity.

Duties:

Implement waste segregation and by-product management programs/processes at Heritage customer locations, including the segregation of chemicals by hazard class; packing compatible materials in appropriate containers and preparing for transportation; completing necessary paperwork per job.

Develop good client relations by effectively communicating with customers and provide exceptional customer service while performing pick-ups.  Assist customers on troubleshooting and correcting record keeping inconsistencies and service concerns.

Support all solid waste disposal, recycling initiatives and programs. Assist with setting up these programs where applicable.

Must be able to drive a straight truck to customer sites to provide services and pick up of waste

Determines and loads supplies needed for job completion and travels to various customers to perform pick-ups and service.

Prepares for daily trip by inspecting vehicle and equipment, fueling truck, and ensuring all equipment is in excellent order. If maintenance is needed determines and assists in scheduling required items.

Follows proper placarding, manifesting, and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials.

 

 

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; college degree and/or coursework preferred.  Must have had previous chemistry courses or relevant work experience.  

Experience:  40 hour HAZWOPER training preferred but will train after hire.  Must have Class B CDL with hazmat endorsement.   Previous environmental or chemical experience helpful.

Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a Heritage vehicle.

Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions. Requires the ability to communicate with work groups and individuals on waste management procedures. Requires the ability to apply principles and exercise judgment in a self-directed environment.

Must pass physical. Must be willing to travel.
