| The Data Architect collaborates with various members of the project teams to include client representatives, business analysts and technical staff to understand the business requirements and data changes associated to the project. While working on projects the data architect will be proactive and solicit, understand and communicate views on information issues related to data and raise issues with team members in a constructive manner. |
Duties: |
Gain a thorough understanding of assignments by reviewing data models, data requirements documents, and other available materials
Provide a structured approach to understanding the data
Initial profiling and data quality assessment
Integration of profiling into automated processes
Passing profiling results to exception management and data integration specifications
Identify problems at the data modeling/design level. Increase ability to identify and recommend solutions to problems
Data structure checks: domain checks, ranges, formats, pattern matching
Participate in data requirements gathering and analysis
Facilitate database design discussions
Create and maintain current data models (i.e. Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Models)
Create and maintain data model related meta data (e.g. business names and definitions)
Develop database designs
Basic stats for columns: min value, max value, type, length, and nulls
Metadata match (actual length vs, planned length)
Data redundancy check
Data relationship and duplicate checks
Perform data gap analysis to determine and resolve data mapping issues between source and target systems
Communicate and analyze downstream data consumer requirements with source system teams
Assist in the implementation of new database applications
Assist in maintaining and enforcing data architecture standards
Assist in maintaining standardization of column name abbreviations, domains, and attributes
Assist in the identification and resolution of inefficiencies in database designs
Determine and implement solutions for database design problems

Qualifications: |
4 5 years experience as a data architect
Ability to design centralized or distributed systems that both address the users requirements and perform efficiently and effectively
The key interests of the Data Architect include databases (relational, hierarchical, object-oriented, XML, and Semantic), file systems and storage management, as well as taxonomy design and management.
Experience with Data Integration patterns and tools
Data modeling, preferably product and customer models
Experience with Microsoft Technology
Experience with Oracle products
Master data management experience
Information architecture skills
Production support experience
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Project management skills
Software development lifecycle skills
Java development experience a plus
Educational Requirements:
MIS/CS/IT Bachelors required
