Description:

To provide emergency mental health and substance abuse evaluations, crisis intervention and appropriate dispositions for individuals presenting at the Emergency Evaluation Unit in severe and acute distress.

Duties:

1.0 Conducts emergency evaluations for new and existing individual’s presenting for emergency services as assigned by the supervisor.
1.1 Emergency evaluations are performed in accordance with the Agency's protocol for conducting emergency evaluations.

2.0 Provides emergency interventions and appropriate dispositions for assigned individuals.
2.1 All emergency interventions are documented in writing on the emergency evaluation protocol including, but not limited to, external referral sources contacted and outcome; internal referral sources contacted and outcome; and other intervention modalities utilized, e.g. crisis for the individual and his/her family.
2.2 Final Crisis/Screening Unit disposition for each assigned individual is accurately documented in writing on the emergency evaluation protocol.


3.0 Demonstrates knowledge of and implements the specific programs according to individual’s age group and level of functioning.
3.1 Demonstrates adequate knowledge of normal childhood development.
3.2 Effectively demonstrates ability to use language and content appropriate to the individual’s developmental level in order to interact on an age appropriate level.
3.3 Demonstrates basic application of diagnostic knowledge for all individual’s age groups and levels of functioning.
3.4 Recognizes mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring illness signs, symptoms and behaviors as they relate to all age groups and levels of functioning.
3.5 Adequate knowledge of addiction principles as they relate to youths.

4.0 Performs functions in computer system.
4.1 Searches for client SR#s/Assigns new SR#s as necessary.
4.2 Enters and/or updates basic Client Demographics.
4.3 Enters data into the following CMHC records:
Agency Admissions for all new clients
Assessment RU Admissions
Assessment RU Discharges
RU Admissions for Inpatient Units
RU Transfers of Inpatient Units

5.0 Performs other duties as requested.
5.1 Miscellaneous duties are performed according to instruction.

Qualifications:

Master's Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, mental health counseling, psychiatric nursing, or be a registered nurse.
